Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse Featuring Grim Reaper, Riot V, Picture, many more

RAG - axxion

I think I fell in love with Reggies Rock Club one year ago, May 2013. It was a magical, booze-fueled romp through Chicago’s south loop, heading from from the hotel to the venue of Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse, the USA’s leading traditional metal festival. It was a bright day in the windy city and I was still buzzing from a breakfast of PBR tallboys and fried+folded steaks from Ricky’s Diner…. READ MORE or read in READ  May 2014 Vandala Magazine

The Shoes at the Streaming Café, Kelowna, BC April 12th

This up and coming band blew me away! I caught them at one of my favorite spots the “Streaming Cafe” in Kelowna, BC. Formed in 2011, this is THE SHOES (t.i.T.S) write and perform raw-toned, dirty rock & roll with a nod to the sounds of the Mississippi Delta, Southern Soul and late 60s Garage Rock. Sabrina’s voice is a powerhouse and mixture of blues, rock etc. SEE PHOTOS AND VIDEO

The Creepshow playing Doc Willoughby’s Pub in Kelowna April 12th

The Creepshow @ Doc Willoughby's Pub

Located right in the heart of the action (what action there is in a city of 100,000), in Kelowna’s downtown core on the trendy Bernard Avenue, you could do worse than to see an energetic punk band at Doc Willoughby’s Pub. Sporting a half Irish, half English decor and feel, Doc’s is one of the Okanagan’s best pubs. READ  May 2014 Vandala Magazine or Online HERE and  VIEW PHOTOS

Now onto the main show, and the styling’s of ‘PSB’. Wrigglesworth and J. Willgoose, Esq are the mysterious two from South London, and the initial impact is astounding. Wrigglesworth gets belted into a vast drum kit, centre left of stage, whilst Willgoose is on the right, behind an electronics desk, with banjo and a trio of guitars within easy reach. Show Review – The Pack A.D.

The Pack A.D. at The Horseshoe Tavern , March 7th 2014 Toronto, Ontario

New Album and Live – The Pack A.D.’ is a well oiled force of nature. This truly dynamic duo was established in Vancouver and has been blowing minds since 2006. From the moment Becky Black took the stage she had complete command of both her guitar and voice. She also unleashed a fearsome, piercing stare on the audience for most of the show, whilst….READ FULL REVIEW

Show Review – The Mahones – The Night When Everyone is Irish

The Mahones at the Tattoo Rock Parlour, Toronto, Ontario. March 2014Put simply, ‘The Mahones’ are a Canadian institution. They play dynamic punk-rock laden with Irish counterparts and a little old school classical Celtic drizzled on top. So, it is no coincidence that ‘The Mahones’ were formed on a St. Patrick’s Day over 20 years ago. Not only is it a day that every Irish person should celebrate, but it is an event that calls for a double commemoration when ‘The Mahones’ are involved.  READ FULL ARTICLE and see PHOTOS HERE

“Show Review – The Strumbellas Break New Ground”

The Strumbellas Break New Ground

The Strumbellas exude a certain character. They are clearly very comfortable on stage now and yet they still remain quite aloof and playful. Their live show displays the band’s intense communal nature and not only with their fellow band mates. What can only be described as ecstatic mantras are peppered throughout their set. When the entire band starts singing in unison,….. READ FULL REVIEW

Heavy – Diverse, and Winning!

Heavy Montreal 2013 Vandala Coverage“Heavy MTL, and metal in general, maybe at a crossroads, but that didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of the forty thousand metal-heads that descended onto Parc Jean Drapeau for the 6th edition of the festival this past weekend. With a lineup that incorporated the old-guard of metal with a plethora of young, metal-core bands, there was definitely a line drawn into the sand, which luckily never evolved into a full-blown battle. Heavy MTL was perfectly balanced with incredible headliners who are loved by almost any metal lover. Just coming back from Mayhem Festival I had crossed off the headliners for the review, which in the end I was very happy about. Many of the “openers” were my highlights either way. Tons of great talent, well known to bands that are waiting to be discovered.” Photos and Story by Lana Nimmons

Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival – “Metal, Mist Mayhem”

This year’s The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival lineup included Rob Zombie, Amon Amarth, Thrown Into Exile, Battlecross, Job for a Cowboy, Butcher Babies and more. Despite Toronto’s rolling blackouts, and floods of the days leading up to the festival, the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival at the Molson Amphitheatre went off without a hitch. To be perfectly honest, on the way to Toronto I was a little OCD, checking updates, to make sure it was still going down. I was more than impressed by their organization and the impeccable lineup that featured some of the top metal bands in the industry. It was the perfect day for any diehard metalhead, nothing but a few raindrops when there was a huge thunderstorm warning. A big plus- it featured some of metal’s most prominent and promising bands, I had in fact became a fan of a few new bands in the scene. With incredible intensity, and 10 whole straight hours of metal, you just couldn’t go wrong! READ FULL ARTICLE AND SEE THE AMAZING PHOTOS FROM THE EVENT

Beach, Sun and Music at Keloha 2013

It was a beach’n weekend here in Kelowna as people united to party at Keloha. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the beautiful Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is a little paradise filled with hot spots and sun and most importantly, the beaches. I call it a Mini LA without the smog. The valley has a ton to offer such as wine, local breweries, fruit, sun and music. Yes music we are a hot spot to stop for bands on tours, from Kiss to The Trews. Wet Ape Productions is one that helps brings these artists to town.   VIEW FULL COVERAGE COMPLETE WITH PHOTOS IN AUGUSTS VANDALA MAGAZINE
