Rob Thomas, best known as the frontman for Matchbox Twenty, played an extraordinary concert at Samala showroom in the Chumash Casino Resort, Friday night, March 29th. Not only was the show sold out long ago, but it was the largest audience at the venue since Stevie Wonder played there a few years ago. Music fans filled every nook and cranny of the showroom for the one-off concert.
Driving up to the tiny California mountain town of Santa Ynez on Friday, March 22nd, the landscape looked much like the rolling green hills of Ireland, after near-record rainfalls ended a seven-year drought all across the state. The bucolic scenery was a fitting backdrop for a Flogging Molly concert at the Chumash Casino Resort in the heart of the Santa Ynez mountains.

Travis Barker who is best known as the drummer of Blink 182 successfully brought the 12th annual Musink festival to Orange County Fairgrounds, March 8th to 10th. The three-day music, tattoo, and classic car event culminated Sunday with a retro Punk music line up featuring six veteran bands.The fairgrounds somehow provided the perfect backdrop for the uniquely Southern California gathering.

A diverse group of songwriters brought their skills to the Alcazar Theater in Carpinteria, Saturday night November 4th. The intimate acoustic evening was organized by Ones To Watch Productions, the musical promoters who have brought a wealth of Americana music to local venues in Southern California. The historic 200 seat non-profit Alcazar theater, which was recently remodeled boasts accidentally perfect acoustics, due to its architecture. The tiny movie theater which doubles as a live performance hall has been a community treasure in the small town of Carpinteria since it first opened nearly 90 years ago. Volunteers served donated locally brewed beer and wine for $5 a glass and took bids on silent auction items like a surfboard and other surf related items.

South Okanagan Events Center once again brought an amazing line up of bands to the valley. I came for all three bands Default, music as the bands were part of my life in my teens and 20’s and onward such as Seether.
There were some die-hards at show 2228 for Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls when they tore it up at Vancouver’s Vogue Theater on September 8. Some who had been to one or more of the other three shows in the Pacific Northwest over the past few days and one loyal couple who had sold their tickets to another big name band in town on the same night.
