Conceived in early 2013, White Chocolate Thunder has taken the city by storm (pun intended) since its recent inception. With nearly a gig a week, their growing popularity in the Pop/Rock scene of Calgary doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon and it’s hard to find a band who deserves the recognition more. Their newest EP titled No Pants, Just Dance was released to an excited horde of local fans and it’s safe to say it more than lived up to their expectations. Drawing influence from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blink 182, White Chocolate Thunder is fun. No word describes them better. The guitar (Jordan Tavares) is animated and accompanied by an energized percussion (Tanner Statham), while the stunning vocals of Johnny Molyneaux and bass work of Braeden Riehl portray the real emotion in the album. The newest release really does live up to its name, each track encouraging listeners to get out there, enjoy themselves, and have the confidence to let themselves go. Keep an ear out for them late this year, as they’ll be recording an album this summer and I know I’m not the only one who looks forward to hearing it.
