SlatesEdmonton punk band Slates have just announced that they will release a 5-song cover EP titled SST in support of the All Hands Volunteers organization on January 7, 2014. The All Hands Volunteers organization is a US-based non-profit dedicated to empowering disaster relief volunteers around the world.Inspired by the work of their good friend Matt Leedy (City Streets), who recently spent two months assisting the organization in Staten Island to help repair the damages caused by the floods of Superstorm Sandy, the band was determined to get involved.

We wanted to find a way to support Matt and the work All Hands Volunteers is currently doing. It’s a great initiative, in which selfless volunteers have been getting their hands dirty helping to rebuild communities,” says drummer Dallas Thompson.

All proceeds from the sale of the EP will go to support the charity. SST will be available for purchase via the bands website, iTunes and through the New Damage Records website.

Formed in 2008, Slates is comprised of James Stewart (guitar/vocals), Lee Klippenstein (bass/vocals), Stefan Duret (guitar/vocals), and Dallas Thompson (drums). The band has released two full-length albums, three 7”’s and has toured extensively across Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean, sharing stages with the likes of Mudhoney and The Flatliners.

Slates will release their third full-length album Taiga on February 25 through New Damage Records in Canada. Slates Online – www.facebook.com/Slates780 and www.slatesband.ca/
