Birds, planes, light fixtures, framed show flyers, boogers after you go swimming, Spiderman and of course bees. All are things that hang. Well now you can add the latest Lagwagon album to that list. Hang is Lagwagon’s eighth full length studio album and their first in nine years. Hang is a comeback, Hang is a reminder, Hang is a riff heavy beast.
Aaron Livingston has been cranking out quality soulful rhythm and blues for years now. Both under his own name and as one half of Icebird, the defunct roots project he struck up with multitalented musician RJD2.
Honor Is All We Know kind of came out of nowhere. There had been rumblings of a new Rancid record for years, but no confirmations or teasers from the studio or possible release dates. Just rumour. Then all of a sudden we had a track list, and cover art, and a release date just weeks away.
With a new album out to critical acclaim and commercial success (in punk rock terms), Lagwagon can with firm resolution claim that they are back and better than ever. The band kicked off the Hang tour in California this past week with label mates and fellow elder statesmen of the punk scene Swingin’ Utters. With both of these legendary bands, as well as a handful of great opening acts, you’d be a fool to be a punk fan and miss these shows. And you’ll have plenty of opportunity as the tour will wind through not only the United States, but across Canada as well.

Tim Armstrong’s Hellcat label (a subsidiary of Epitaph) has slowed in its releases the last few years, releasing only a couple records a year. But there was a time when they were one of punk’s heaviest hitting labels, releasing records by the likes of Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, Dis-tillers, U.S. Bombs and Aggrolites. Nowadays their roster of bands is still impressive, but it’s the lesser known bands that are the most impressive on the team.
Feint is an experimental musician from the UK. His music is a hodgepodge of heavy electronic and industrial music, with skinny breaks of other genres splintered into the mix. The song ‘No Chance’ from his new EP One Last Time sounds at one moment like Deadmou5, at another like Coldplay.
Less Than Jake are the among the elder statesmen of the ska punk scene. From their classic 1995 album Pezzcore right on through to last year’s well received See The […]
The introduction to some of my favorite punk bands, some of punk rock’s most iconic bands, have been compilation albums. Albums like Ramones Mania and Bad Religion’s All Ages. In 1991 the box set T…
