After an already massively successful major festival run through Europe, multi-platinum selling band The Cat Empire are pleased to announce a 10-date Canadian tour in 2019. The tour will kick off in Quebec City, QC on March 3, 2019 and wrap in Victoria, BC on March 19, 2019. Tickets for Canadian dates on sale Friday, September 7, 2018 at 10am local time. More information on how to purchase tickets can be found here.
“We haven’t had time to get to North America since 2016, despite it being one of our favorite places to tour. So we’re giving our tribe there the jump on the rest of the world this time, coming there as the first stop on our new album tour,” said The Cat Empire.
Also announced, the next tantalizing taste of new music from The Cat Empire via their song-a-month reveal for 2018 is the slow burning “La Sirène”. Sung predominantly in French by guest vocalist Eloise Mignon, “La Sirène” pays homage to the devoted fan base in French Quebec, which has been a home away from home for The Cat Empire for over a decade. The band has played to their biggest ever audience in Montreal, not only once, but twice to over a quarter of a million people as part of Montreal Jazz Festival.
The cover image for “La Sirène”, called Clay Body, is by Prue Stent, Honey Long and Clare Longley, three good friends and artists whose practices have merged and mingled in different ways over the years, coming together at different points to explore shared fascinations and the common threads. Prue Stent is a cousin of Harry James Angus’, so the band are delighted to be collaborating with another artistic family member.
It’s been a huge year so far for The Cat Empire, after releasing three brand new songs in 2018 so far The Cat Empire have mobilised their fanbase across the globe with this brand new music, amassing over 1 million streams and nearly 75,000 views on YouTube.
