Australian quartet, The Jezabels, have just released a brand-new single called “The Others” through Dine Alone Records in Canada. Recorded with the band’s long-time producer, Lachlan Mitchell, and mixed by Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, The Cure, Crowded House), this is the first track the band has released since 2016’s critically acclaimed album, Synthia. “The Others”, which is being released as a stand-alone track, not connected with any other release or project, is now available to purchase and stream through all streaming services HERE or below
Of the new track, the band had this to say, “We’re revisiting our romantic roots in this new song, though with a newfound directness. Lyrically, it’s a reflection of the kind of intense loneliness that makes simply being in one’s own body feel painful. The unsolvable predicament of one’s desire for another crossing over into a desire to lose yourself, where the body is both the blissful point of contact, but also, the thing which keeps you constantly separate. Musically we have tried to sit that on a soundscape that is both euphoric and melancholy, driving but pensive”
Since the release of their breakout debut, Prisoner (2011), The Jezabel’s, Sam Lockwood (guitar), Nik Kaloper (drums), Hayley Mary (vocals), and Heather Shannon (keys), continue to earn widespread praise for their “anthemic sound” (Relix). The band are just about to commence a run of sell-out shows at the Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney later this month – 7 nights back to back.
