VANESSA CARLTON NOTHING WHERE SOMETHING USED TOVanessa Carlton has released a remix single of her song “Nothing Where Something Used To Be” from her recent studio album Liberman available via Dine Alone Records. A euphoric track that builds to a vibrant chorus and perfectly showcases Vanessa’s dulcet vocals, the remix is accompanied by a mesmerizing video featuring Vanessa herself, which can be viewed HERE or below. The remix of Nothing Where Something Used To Be is a brand new standalone single, which was remixed by the album’s UK producer Steve Osborne. The track is available to purchase on iTunes.

“Steve and I experimented a lot while we were exploring the palette of what Liberman should be,” says Vanessa. “We looked at this as an experiment and when we moved on to the next chunk of songs this version didn’t fit on the album. I was doing my dance workout one day a couple months ago and this version of the song was way deep on a playlist and popped up. I really loved it but had forgotten about this attempt. I sent the song to my manager and he was like, we gotta release this! So here we are.”

“As for the visuals, I asked my friend Colin Devin Moore to create something and he came up with this video concept,” says Vanessa. “I basically sang into a camera one morning on tour and he created what you see here. I love the attention to detail in the video. And the edit is really beautiful and perfectly links with arrangement of the song. This is a world I like to dip into every now and then.”

Liberman has been critically lauded in several profile music outlets including Pitchfork who gave the  LP 7.8/10 citing “the confidence in her voice is very reassuring”.  The ten songs from Liberman reflect Vanessa’s current state of mind since moving from NYC to Nashville, marrying husband John McCauley (Deer Tick) and having a baby girl.  The simple instrumentation mixed with her wistful vocals and poignant lyrics bring you into her world and showcase a new side to this accomplished songwriter. The album features 10 newly minted songs with a deluxe version of the LP also available which includes the complete collection of Carlton’s Live Living Room Sessions. Both versions are available to purchase here: Liberman + Liberman Deluxe.
