5 piece, Call The Shots, who are renowned for their well-crafted, infectious and high-energy live show and stage antics, will released their highly anticipated new single titled ‘Fantasy’ the first to be taken from their third EP due out later this year.
It’s been almost twelve months since we’ve last heard from the Brisbane pop-punk/rockers and much has changed. They’ve further crafted their pop/punk roots which is evident in ‘Fantasy’, and introduce an impressive new line up featuring Michael Hermon (Guitar), Dylan Thompson (Guitar) and Harry White (Bass) alongside founding members Josh Setterfield (Vocals) and Riley Boyce (Drums).
“’Fantasy’ is about having early stages of feelings for someone, but not wanting to take it further until you get to know the person properly,” says singer Josh Setterfield of the single. “Everyone has a thing for someone at some point, and a lot of the time, people are scared to pursue their feelings in fear that they might get hurt.”
The track is set apart from their previous material having introduced strings for the first time and setting a different mood stylistically. “We personally think it’s a big step up from our older stuff,” says Setterfield. “We’re always trying new things and ways to keep our music US but still fresh. We’re almost a whole new group of guys now and I’m really excited for everything to come”.
Taking influence from the likes of Simple Plan, All Time Low and We Are The In Crowd, Call The Shots are undoubtedly one of Australia’s pop/punk finest landing supports with the likes of You Me At Six, Tonight Alive, Short Stack, The Getaway Plan, The Story So Far, Mest, The Wonder Years and As It Is. Add to their touring resume is a coveted spot on the 2013 reincarnation of the Australian Vans Warped Tour performing alongside Simple Plan, The Offspring, New Found Glory, The Used and fellow Australian band Hands Like Houses.
The band first came to light in 2011 with their debut EP “Crank The Happy” which accumulated over 8,000 downloads. This was followed by 2013 release “When Everything Goes Wrong” which really cemented the band earning them a legion of dedicated fans. The sophomore release debuted at number 17 on the AIR Album charts and number 28 on the iTunes album charts. The first single from the EP ‘Alexis Texas’ garnered airplay including plays on Hit 105, 2Day FM, Triple M Homegrown and Triple J Short.Fast.Loud whilst the accompanying music video notched over 50,000 views. Dolly Magazine named them as one of the Hottest 100 and popular blog, PopPunkWorld, put the band in the Top 10 Pop Punk bands in Australia where they placed #3 behind BodyJar and Tonight Alive.
Certainly no strangers to touring after two previous headlining tours of their own, Call The Shots head back out this February in support of ‘Fantasy’ playing Australia’s East Coast.
