After two exceptional evenings with his fans at Fairmount Theatre in Montreal, and a fantastic night in Toronto at The Drake Hotel last week, Patrick Watson is pleased to introduce a new music video for the song Places You Will Go – the second single from his upcoming release, Love Songs For Robots (out May 12th via Secret City Records).

Of the inspiration for the video, directors Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski explain, “The video was inspired by watching the band play small shows leading up to the release…The clip is shot in a small Sequoia cabin in Northern Quebec in a single take, from a single perspective. The reward of this very simple concept is a lively, energetic and intimate portrait of Patrick and the band.”

The new album was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Studio Pierre Marchand in Montreal. Of the record, some of which was debuted at private concerts in small loft spaces, Watson explains, “I wanted to make a science fiction R n’ B meets Vangelis erotica with a zest of folk kind of record.”

Watson composes, performs and records his albums with his full band of almost a decade, which includes Joe Grass (guitars), Robbie Kuster (drums/percussion) and Mishka Stein (bass). The recipient of Canada’s elite Polaris Music Prize in 2007, Watson and his band have performed to over 100,000 people at the 2009 Montreal Jazz Festival as well as with full orchestras in Amsterdam and Montreal. Raised and still living in Montreal, Watson himself has composed 15 scores for both film and television, including a trailer for The Walking Dead, and Wim Wenders’ new 3D film, Everything Will Be Fine, where he and his bandmates performed the songs Cynical World (an original for the film) and Lighthouse.

Love Songs For Robots is available for pre-order on iTunes with an instant download of four album tracks. The vinyl edition comes with an additional 7”, featuring a non-album track, and can be preordered along with the CD on the Secret City online store.
