BC’s Shred Kelly are going to be adding some serious miles on their upcoming winter Canadian tour. In support of their forthcoming new album Sing To The Night (out January 27th), the band is set to hit up over 20 venues from coast to coast at the beginning of 2015. They will kick it all off by ringing in the New Year in the cozy ski town of Golden, BC and then will hit the ground running with stops in Banff, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal and Toronto among many others. Tickets and tour details can be found at The band premiered their quirky awkward family portrait inspired new video for Family Oh Family; Shred Kelly acknowledges the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage (Canada Music Fund) and of Canada’s Private Radio Broadcasters.

Sage McBride (keyboards and vocals had this to say about the video shoot. “I think we spent 12 hours laughing during the making of this video. Because of the song title, our Producer (Christina Ienna) was inspired by the awkward family photos that are a bit of a guilty pleasure when mindlessly scrolling the internet.” She continues, “This video definitely represents the oddity that is a band family.  At times awkward and at times hilarious.  The scene of us in the conjoined sweater that Christina sewed together had us all getting more up close and personal than we’ve ever physically been, but is probably the best visual representation of what it really feels like to be part of a touring band.”

Since their inception, the Fernie, BC based group has been re-defining what “folk music” means in Canada. Through their individual pan-Canadian backgrounds, Tim Newton (banjo, vocals, guitar, lap steel, ukulele), Sage, Jordan Vlasschaert (bass, acoustic guitar), Ian Page-Shiner (drums), and Ty West (guitar) have amplified the traditional sound of folk music with a more contemporary approach. With the help of PledgeMusic they have launched a campaign for fans to pre-order the album and get behind the scenes access to songs and footage before anyone else. Pledgers also have a chance to get T-Shirts, Tank Tops, Album, Vinyls, and even an Awkward Family Photo Calendar.

Selling out shows across the nation, Shred Kelly have performed at some of the country’s premier festivals, and have received a growing list of awards and recognition, including “Best Live Act” at the Kootenay Music Awards. The band has also been ranked as one of the top 10 “Must See Acts” at the 2013 Ottawa Folk Festival (Ottawa Rock Lottery) and Top 5 New Years Eve gig by Grant Lawrence (CBC).

Catch them on the road this winter!
