SINGLE MOTHERS’ long-awaited debut full-length Negative Qualities is now available through Dine Alone Records in Canada and XL Recordings imprint HXC Recordings for the rest of the world. To purchase the album visit: Dine Alone Records or iTunes. To celebrate the release of Negative Qualities, the band has just premiered a video for the track “Half-Lit” via YouTube. Half-Lit was directed by Droga5’s Spencer LaVallee.

LaVallee says: “When I first heard SINGLE MOTHERS, I was drawn to the way they contrasted these witty, sardonic lyrics against this blisteringly raw instrumentation. I wanted the video to embrace this duality, capture the humor and the aggression at the same time. Light and dark. The song’s called “Half-Lit”, so why not light it halfway?” To watch/share the video visit: http://bit.ly/ZdPKHD

In support of their debut, SINGLE MOTHERS will be touring extensively across North America until mid-December. Having just wrapped up a slew of Canadian dates in September, the band will kick off the next portion of their tour with a CD release show in Toronto on October 10, 2014 at the Smiling Buddha. The tour also features two shows at Halifax Pop Explosion, a CMJ show on October 24, 2014 and two shows with Brooklyn rock band THE HOLD STEADY in Toronto on December 10th and 11th at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern. For complete tour details, see below.
Known for their dangerously explosive live show and the palpable tension that bleeds into their music, SINGLE MOTHERS shouldn’t exist and neither should their debut album. Led by mercurial troubadour Drew Thomson, the band was shakily hatched in London, Ontario, where it ran through a dozen members before finally recording its debut album last year. Produced by Joby J. Ford (The Bronx), at 10 songs, Negative Qualities is an unrelenting behemoth of a debut album that was two years in the making; written across two provinces, initially started in Los Angeles then finished in London, Toronto and Upstate New York. An explosive mix of raw energy, high-end punk and intellectual rendering of small town frustration, the record represents a band pushed to their most savage state.
