Now that their highly anticipated sophomore album, The Physical World, has been released, dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979 is ready to road test the new songs. The group will head out on a 15-date Canadian tour this winter, starting with shows in Montreal and Toronto in December, then hitting BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and back to Ontario, in January and February 2015 (all dates listed below). Tickets go on sale this Friday(October 10) at 10am local time (12pm in Montreal). Today, the world will also see the premiere of the Life After Death From Above 1979 documentary, which is available to rent or buy at Vimeo.
Produced by D. Sardy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, LCD Soundsystem, Wolfmother, Oasis), The Physical World (released September 9 via Last Gang Records) comes a full ten years after the release of the band’s universally acclaimed debut album, You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, which made Jesse F. Keeler (bass, synths, backing vocals) and Sebastien Grainger (vocals and drums), an underground /over ground sensation. DFA 1979 broke up in 2006 while the first album and subsequent remix album continued to sell. They reunited in 2011 and began to perform live, picking up where they left off without missing a beat. Their rabid cult following has only continued to grow.
Don’t miss Death From Above 1979 this winter!
