Watch the Western Canadian Music Awards Gala Live Tonight

up-western_awardsGrant Lawrence will once again host the Western Canadian Music Awards Gala. Joining him onstage this year in Winnipeg for very special performances will be Dan Mangan, Federal Lights, and more, along with 2014 Hall Of Fame inductee  Fred Penner and 2014 Heritage Award recipient Ron Paley. Today, at a very special awards gala hosted by Ace Burpee in Winnipeg, MB, the 2014 Western Canadian Music Industry Award winners were announced. The event included performances by The Sojourners and the Bros. Landreth. The 2014 Industry Builder was awarded posthumously to Manitoba’s great music champion, Kevin Walters. And announced today in a moving tribute from J.P. Ellson, from here on in this award will be called The Kevin Walters Industry Builder Award.

The 2015 Western Canadian Music Awards will take place during BreakOut West 2015 in Victoria, BC which will run concurrently with Rifflandia Festival September 17 to 20, 2015. Watch for more announcements soon.

2014 BreakOut West Special Events – Yesterday’s Aboriginal and Jazz music showcases are just two of the many special events at this year’s BreakOut West. The Classical Music showcase begins today at 2pm while the Hard/Metal and Hip Hop showcases are set for tonight as the festival continues.  And the family friendly Mini-BreakOut West at the Children’s Museum on Sunday morning is sure to be a hit with kids, especially with a performance by Winnipeg’s own Fred Penner.
