Earlier this year in January White Birches released a first taste of their forthcoming debut album Dark Waters. Alongside the single the duo also proclaimed their view on the world in a manifesto. The debut album is due in April but before that the duo is treating us to yet another singel – “It’s a Hollow World”. A song about letting go and just for a moment not coping with the state of the world.

But, “It’s a Hollow World” is not just about tears, it is also a ballad worthy of slow dancing and the prom nights we all carry in our memories. But it’s also like a road movie in an icy landscape where the Devil is driving.

White Birches’ music has been compared to, among others, Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins and Sisters of Mercy mixing sweet piano and alarming guitars with dark wave synthesizers. Haunting pop melodies with dark lyrics of hope, ache, broken hearts and the devil.
