For Melbourne’s Ten Thousand, 2016 has been about touring last year’s proudly independent debut album ‘First Light’, bringing their signature fusion of progressive, garage and psychedelic rock to wider audiences across Australia. Now led by new single ‘The Night Is My Ally’, the dark-edged and theatrical five-piece are building up to the release of their masterfully crafted second full length, ‘Ghosts of Samsara‘.
Where ‘First Light’ marked the dawning of the band’s career, ‘Ghosts of Samsara’ will take the listener into a more determined and brooding twilight, with influences swinging from the eclectic experimentation and conceptual dreamscapes of The Mars Volta and Radiohead, to the relentless druggy psych-rock of The Black Angels.
While cutting their teeth by supporting an impressive lineup of home-grown talent including Dead Letter Circus, The Living End, King of the North and Dallas Frasca, Ten Thousand have also shared bills with international heavyweights Aerosmith,
Van Halen, Richie Ramone and Buckcherry. For further exposure, tracks from ‘First Light’ have recently featured on tattoo doco-show Bondi Ink, screening in over 40 countries worldwide.
Scoring initial spins across a variety of independent and commercial stations around the globe with ‘First Light’, Ten Thousand kick things up to a whole new level and get a jump on 2017 with their pumping lead single ‘The Night Is My Ally’.
