There is a mechanic shop in the heart of industrial Kingston – it’s tucked in the corner of a dusty cul-de-sac, surrounded by dead trees and rusted out machinery. That’s where The Glorious Sons call home. The band burst onto the scene in 2013, winning theHTZ-FM Rocksearch and following that up with their EP, Shapeless Art, which spawned two top-10 Active Rock singles, White Noise, the third most spun Active Rock song to date in 2014, and title track, Mama. The Glorious Sons’ ascent in the world of Canadian music has been quick and well deserved. Now, they are ready to start the next chapter with the release of their debut full-length album, The Union. Out on September 16th via Black Box, the 11-track record features the driving first single, Heavy, produced by Gavin Brown. The band’s hometown radio station, K-Rock, got first dibs on spinning the single this past weekend. Listen for Heavy across the country on rock radio, starting this week! The band will take the new songs on the road this fall on a cross-Canada tour along with Australian rock band, Airbourne – dates listed below. Visit Pledge Music to pre-order a physical copy of The Union. The single, Heavy, will be available September 2nd alongside the iTunes digital pre-order.
The Glorious Sons are an everyman band, telling real stories from a blue-collar perspective. They hit their stride with their new album, The Union; a collection of honest and heartfelt songs touching on themes of life, love, passion, loss and redemption. After recording their debut EP, Shapeless Art, with The Trews’ John-Angus MacDonald – which earned the group a nomination for the 2014 SiriusXM Emerging Artist Of The Year (English), and a nod for Best New Group Or Solo Artist: Rock at the 2014 CRMAs – they paired up once again with MacDonald to produce the lions share of The Union. MacDonald imparted a level of song-craftsmanship and experience that the band found invaluable. The results speak for themselves with an eclectic and cohesive collection of songs including the fist-pumping drivers Hard Times and The Contender, the epic Lover Under Fire, thechaotic title track The Union and the beautifully crafted album closer, Amigo.
“With this album, I wanted to create a feeling of nostalgia that would make people look back and wonder what they had missed,” says singer Brett Emmons. “When I picked up my first guitar, I couldn’t help but sing. When I started singing, I couldn’t help but write. All I want is for people to hear this album, because I feel like we’ve been writing it our whole lives.”
The real power and beauty of these songs comes to life on a live level. The Glorious Sons are quickly becoming known for their energetic and unrelenting live shows – vocalist Brett Emmons has an uncanny ability to win over a crowd no matter what the size – small club or festival headline, this band engages their fans in a way few acts can.
Come together with The Glorious Sons this fall!
